Apple has unveiled the latest MacBook Air, featuring the high-performance M4 chip, a new 12MP Center Stage camera, and extended support for multiple external displays. The latest iteration also introduces an all-new sky blue color and a lower starting price of $999, marking a $100 reduction from its predecessor. Designed for portability and power, the 13-inch and 15-inch MacBook Air models are now available for pre-order, with official availability beginning March 12.

The new MacBook Air is powered by the M4 chip, which delivers significant performance improvements. Featuring a 10-core CPU and up to a 10-core GPU, the M4 chip offers twice the speed of the M1 model and up to 23 times the performance of the fastest Intel-based MacBook Air. The device supports up to 32GB of unified memory and extends battery life to 18 hours, providing six additional hours compared to Intel-based models.

The Neural Engine is three times faster than its predecessor, enhancing AI-driven tasks such as photo editing and noise reduction in videos. Apple has expanded MacBook Air’s display capabilities, allowing users to connect up to two 6K external displays in addition to its built-in Liquid Retina display. The laptop’s new 12MP Center Stage camera ensures high-quality video calls and automatically adjusts framing to keep users centered.

The MacBook Air retains its fanless design, offering a thin and lightweight aluminum unibody, now available in sky blue alongside midnight, starlight, and silver. Built for Apple Intelligence, the MacBook Air integrates advanced AI-powered features, including Image Playground for creative visual elements, Genmoji for personalized emojis, and enhanced Writing Tools.

How the M4 chip boosts MacBook Air’s AI performance

Siri now offers improved interactivity with both voice and text commands, while built-in ChatGPT integration allows users to access AI-generated insights without creating an account. Apple’s Private Cloud Compute technology ensures user data remains secure, processing many AI-driven tasks directly on the device. The new MacBook Air maintains its signature elements, including the Magic Keyboard with Touch ID, MagSafe charging, and two Thunderbolt ports.

It features Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3 for improved connectivity. The audio experience is enhanced with a three-microphone array and Spatial Audio support with Dolby Atmos. The 13.6-inch and 15.3-inch Liquid Retina displays offer up to 500 nits of brightness and support for 1 billion colors, making visuals more immersive. MacBook Air runs on macOS Sequoia, introducing features such as iPhone Mirroring for seamless integration between devices and an upgraded Safari browser with improved article summaries and distraction controls.

The operating system also enhances gaming performance with Personalized Spatial Audio and an improved Game Mode. A new Passwords app provides centralized access to credentials, and enhanced window tiling supports better multitasking. Apple  continues its commitment to sustainability with the latest MacBook Air, incorporating over 55% recycled materials.

The device features 100% recycled aluminum in its enclosure, 100% recycled rare earth elements in its magnets, and a battery made with fully recycled cobalt and lithium. Its packaging is entirely fiber-based as part of Apple’s goal to eliminate plastic from packaging by 2025. MacBook Air aligns with Apple’s ambition to achieve carbon neutrality across its supply chain by 2030. – By MENA Newswire News Desk.
